Staying on top of roof care doesn’t have to be complicated. Here’s a seasonal checklist we at WARM recommend for WA homeowners.
Twice a Year (Autumn & Spring)

Clear gutters & downpipes: Remove leaves and debris.

Check for broken tiles or loose sheets: Replace immediately.

Inspect flashings: Ensure seals around chimneys, skylights, and vents are intact.

Look inside your roof space: Any light shining through? Any damp spots? That’s a leak waiting to happen.
After Heavy Storms

Walk around the outside of your house and look for displaced tiles or flashing.

Check for overflowing gutters or pooling water.
Annually

Arrange a professional inspection (especially if your roof is over 15 years old).

Consider a pressure clean if moss or mould is visible.

Repaint or reseal metal roofs if coatings are breaking down.
Safety First
Never climb onto your roof without the proper equipment and experience. Many inspections can be done from the ground or from inside the roof cavity. For anything more, it’s best to call in the pros.
